As the Churches kept growing, the matter of attaining a separate Synod was discussed in the RiBhoi Presbytery Annual Meeting held at Bhoirymbong during 14-16 February, 1992. The Moderator suggested that the time had come for the Church to fulfill this vision. All members who participated in the discussion unanimously favoured this bold suggestion and took a memorable decision to divide the RiBhoi Presbytery into two Presbyteries which would then constitute a Synod.
Therefore the RiBhoi Presbytery after 22 years of its existence, was bifurcated into two Presbyteries, namely, the RiBhoi Mihngi Presbytery and the RiBhoi Sepngi Presbytery. In the year 1994 the two Presbyteries unanimously resolved to form the RiBhoi Presbyterian Synod. An overture was sent to the K.J.P. Synod and the same was recommended to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of India. In 1996, the Presbyterian Church of India resolved to grant the Provisional Synod for a period of two years. In 1998, a full-fledged Synod was granted by the Presbyterian Church of India which was inaugurated on 27th September,1998 by the then Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of India, Rev.JathangaNgirsim. In the 2nd Annual Session of the RiBhoi Presbyterian Synod held at Bhoirymbong Presbyterian Church during 8th – 12th March 2000, the Synod has unanimously decided to create more Presbyteries within the Synod by bifurcated from the RiBhoiMihngi Presbytery and RiBhoiSepngi Presbytery were known as the RiBhoiMihngi, RiBhoiSepngi, RiBhoiShatei, MawbuhSarikrai and NongtluhMathan Presbytery.
